Cheltenham Preview Night

McCafferty’s and What’s The Craic DubEye are delighted to announce our Cheltenham Preview Night on Friday, March 3, at McCafferty’s Wafi.

Kicking off at 7pm, our expert panel will dissect all the major races across the festival’s four days and give their top selections for the biggest week of the horse racing calendar. A night of top-quality entertainment, craic and Cheltenham advice is guaranteed!

Tickets for the event start at AED 250, which includes an unlimited drinks package from 7-10 pm.

The panel on the night features some legends of the horse racing game, including Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer Charles Byrnes, American Grand National winning trainer John ‘Shark’ Hanlon, Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Mikey Fogarty and legendary racing pundit Johnny Dineen.

About The Panel:

Charles Byrnes

Based in Limerick, Byrnes is one of racing’s shrewdest trainers, with winners at Cheltenham, Aintree, Royal Ascot and Newmarket across an illustrious training career. This year, Byrnes will have a strong team for the Cheltenham Festival, headed by Blazing Khal and the Dubai-owned Shoot First.

John ‘Shark’ Hanlon

Based in Kilkenny, the Shark started training in 2006 and has trained multiple graded winners across all the major festivals and heads to Cheltenham with his Galway Plate and American Grand National winner, Hewick.

Mikey Fogarty

Cheltenham Festival-winning jockey Mikey Fogarty now rides out for champion trainer Willie Mullins, following a career highlighted by his success aboard Don Poli at the 2014 Cheltenham Festival.

Johnny Dineen

Punter-turned-pundit, Dineen has risen to fame over the last six months as the star of the Racing Post’s Upping The Ante. Before that, though, Dineen was regarded as one of the best in the ring and had a pitch at the Cheltenham Festival for many years.
